We make exceptional grants that are in tune with our wider Foundation interests but fall outside our specific funding priorities. Such work is not routine and focuses on important practical innovations or emerging issues.

Association of Charitable Foundations - £19,233
Towards the costs of the 'Philanthropy UK' project, in particular the publishing and promotion costs of research on donor motivation.

Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations
- £4,000
Towards print costs of the report on governance in the third sector.

Centre for Civil Society, LSE - £3,000
Towards disseminating the findings of a research project on the challenges and opportunities faced by European foundations.

Impetus Trust - £125,000
Towards the core costs over three years of this new organisation, which applies a 'venture philanthropy' model to the funding of charities.

New Economics Foundation - £25,000
Towards the costs of a project to develop policies that will enable greater financial autonomy at local government level.

The Balance Charitable Foundation for Unclaimed Assets - £20,000
Towards the costs of establishing ways that financial institutions could give orphan assets to charity.

The City Centre for Charity Effectiveness Trust Ltd - £70,000
Towards the costs of developing this new centre at City University to improve the quality of management and leadership in the voluntary sector.

The Funding Network - £11,000
Towards the core costs over two years of this new initiative to widen the number of people involved in giving to charity.

The International Longevity Centre - £75,000
Towards the salary and costs over three years of a Longevity Expert Network Manager to develop a database and network of experts on longevity.

The PressWise Trust - £260,000
Towards the core costs over two and a half years of maintaining existing services to journalists and members of the public, and towards a development strategy to position the organisation as the centre for media affairs.
